How Might You SCHEDULE EQUIPPING OF MENTORS?

Following are suggested scheduling options for the 30 hour Equipping Experience required for initial certification as Marriagizers; however, other options may certainly be explored.

OPTION A
Week Night & RETREAT

Evening – 2 hours, 12 weeks + Retreat
This format is especially suitable to local churches in Colorado within driving distance of Denver. The “equipping experience” is best scheduled around an existing mid-week program [or Sunday morning] when child care is already provided. The retreat is always a highlight of their experience and a time of bonding between the couples in training.
30 classroom hours + up to 30 mentoring hours

OPTION B
2-12 Hour Weekend Intensives & RETREAT

Young Couple2 – Thursday & Friday evening + Saturday and a Retreat, over a three month time period
There are many alternatives to offering a two-weekend intensive and retreat. It may be hosted by a local church and limited to its own couples’ equipping. It may be sponsored by several churches in a particular locale, each church sending their designated leadership couple for training. It may be offered to clergy and/or lay leadership couples who will in turn train locally. It may be a local, regional, or statewide offering. It may be held in a hotel or at a retreat center. The first two weekends, Thursday through Saturday may be scheduled at the church and the third, away, at a retreat center.
30 classroom hours + up to 30 mentoring hours

OPTION C A Mid-Week Three Day Intensive

Tuesday-Thursday – 21 Hours This option is designed for para-church leaders, church pastors and/or designated staff and spouses, who would prefer a week day conference schedule. This allows for participants to travel on Monday and for the training to take place Tuesday morning through Thursday afternoon. The Gordons make mentoring/counseling available during evenings and Friday, on an as needed basis. Since this option is primarily designed for clergy and parachurch ministry leaders, less classroom hours are required. A second advanced intensive is available to leadership.
20 classroom hours + 10 mentoring hours

FURTHER OPTIONS

John and Marti Gordon consult with those sponsoring Marriagizer training to create an option best suited to their particular group in order to fulfill the desired objectives.

If Interested, What Next?

Contact John and Marti Gordon. They will meet with you and/or your ministry leader interested in the equipping marriage mentors.At that time, they will choose the best option for your particular ministry context and agree upon a fee structure. Once contracted, the Gordons furnish the designated coordinator with a detailed Planning Portfolio that guides their choice of couples, lays out an agenda for preliminary meetings with the couples, and includes a step-by-step countdown to the first classroom session. John and Marti attend at least one of the preparatory meetings to meet the couples, build rapport, answer questions, and finalize plans.
